A Natural Choice
The Lake D’Arbonne Country of Union Parish offers you quiet, rural living. Here, you’ll find beautifully textured land of lush green forests, lazy bayous, and the sparkling Lake D’Arbonne. Five waterways in the parish are part of the Louisiana Natural and Scenic Rivers System. The lake draws sport fishermen angling for bass, catfish, bream, and white perch. Cast your line–the fishing is fine. Or, trek through the two National Wildlife Refuges or the state Wildlife Management Area. We share the land with four-legged residents like whitetail deer, bobcats, nutria, alligators, black bears, and foxes–and feathered friends such as wild turkeys, eagles, herons, ospreys and the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker.
Lake D’Arbonne (“darr-bone”)
is the focal point of giant Union Parish in North Central Louisiana. The parish seat and largest town is Farmerville with a population of some 3,800. Other towns include Marion, Bernice, Downsville, and Spearsville. Union Parish is accessible by Louisiana Highway 2 east-west, and Louisiana Highways 15, 33, 143 and U.S. Highway 167. Just a short drive away is Interstate-20 running east-west across the U.S. Our climate is comparable to that of Dallas or Atlanta…normally requiring a light coat in winter and comfortable clothing in summer.
